Responsibility

Logomo is committed to responsible operations and promoting sustainable development.

Logomo has been at the forefront of sustainability from the start. The venue strives to be part of developing new, more ecological service models for the event industry. As a result, Logomo has been awarded the Ekokompassi environmental certificate by the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation.

We are continuously reducing our environmental footprint through a range of methods such as utilizing eco-certified electricity, selecting increasingly environmentally friendly equipment and materials, and enhancing recycling efforts.

Environmental responsibility

Environmental commitment

At Logomo we recognize our responsibility to our shared environment and protect it to the best of our ability. Our entire organization is committed to the Ekokompassi environmental system, and we adhere to all legislation concerning our environment.

Logomo constantly seeks to reduce the amount of waste it produces and increase its sorting rate through various measures. We expect that all parties organizing events with us will also take this policy into account in their operations.

The production of events requires a vast amount of hardware and equipment, which we recycle and maintain regularly. When making purchasing decisions, we aim to consider the entire life cycle of the equipment.

Our kitchens prioritize the use of local ingredients and search for ways to reduce food waste through methods such as selling surplus at a lower price.
We use Turku Energia’s Eco Warranty electricity and plan to continue its use going forwards. Our equipment inventory is annually updated to consume less energy.
Through our communications channels, we encourage our customers to utilize existing public transport systems to come to our premises as we strive to reduce our carbon footprint through the reduction of private transportation systems.
Logomo’s staff is trained in our environmentally friendly practices, and together we consider how we can better support sustainable development through our operations.

We also aim to be involved in developing new, more ecological service models for the event industry! We encourage everyone to consume experiences and events instead of material purchases.

EcoCompass

Logomo has been awarded the EcoCompass environmental certificate, which demonstrates thriving responsibility within our operations.

The EcoCompass certificate from the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation verifies an organization’s efforts towards its environmental responsibility and also effectively considers the specific features of the event industry. To receive the certificate, an organization must meet ten environmental criteria, including identifying the most significant environmental impacts of its activities, creating a targeted environmental program, and committing to reducing environmental impacts. The implementation of the criteria is also monitored every three years.

Fulfilling legal obligations has always been self-evident at Logomo, but EcoCompass helps us develop our environmental work more systematically.

Restaurant services

Logomo’s restaurants pay special attention to recycling, the selection of raw materials, and the reduction of food waste. Local ingredients are used according to the season. Whether it’s lunch, brunch, Teatro pizza, or a corporate event, Logomo always offers vegetarian or vegan food options.

The restaurants follow the guidelines of the WWF’s fish guide and choose ethically fished products. Fish and shellfish products that have received the MSC certification are preferred.

Waste management is precise, and there are constant efforts made to reduce it. Logomo Kitchen’s lunch can be purchased through the ResQ Club which simultaneously reduces waste.

Logomo Kitchen’s lunch dishware is made of porcelain, washable hard plastic, and glass. We are in the process of discontinuing the use of disposable dishes entirely.
In the summer of 2024, the kitchen is investing in equipment that is even more efficient in energy and water consumption.

Waste management and recycling

Logomo has been granted the L&T carbon-neutral waste management certificate. This means that the carbon footprint caused by Logomos waste management is measured and compensated in a way that the equivalent amount of carbon is removed from the atmosphere through certified reforestation methods.

There are procedures in place to improve the extent of Logomos waste management to reach 60% by 2028.

The company responsible for Logomos waste services has ISO 9001 as well as ISO 14001 certifications.

Energy efficiency

Logomo’s building services system was designed to effectively serve the entire property complex.

Special attention is paid to energy and environmental efficiency in property management. The property maintenance and care services management organization has an ISO 9001 standard-certified quality assurance system, its environmental policy, and an ISO 14001 standard-certified environmental system.

The building’s energy consumption is monitored monthly, and deviations are addressed. Lighting in the premises has been implemented with energy-saving solutions everywhere, and most spaces have energy-efficient LED lighting. Presence sensors for lighting are used in all spaces where it is possible based on the intended use. The goal is to further increase the use of LED lighting. Thanks to responsible technical planning, the amount of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) has been minimized over the years.

Logomo’s ventilation, heating, and cooling are controlled in such a way that the conditions for event activities and office spaces are balanced, but the energy consumption is at an optimized minimum.
Water fixtures are water-saving.

Furthermore, Logomo has an Eco Guarantee electricity contract with Turku Energy, which guarantees that the electricity used by the company is produced entirely from carbon-neutral energy sources.

Cleaning

The use of eco-labeled and biodegradable products is favored in cleaning the premises. The use of chemicals is minimized and the most used cleaning products are either pH neutral or slightly acidic and do not contain any solvents. The chemicals used are odorless and do not contain any colorants. Eco-labeled tissue papers are favored.

Accessibility

Logomo is easily accessible using sustainable modes of transportation, as its location is excellent and is constantly improving with urban development.

We encourage every visitor to arrive at Logomo by foot, bicycle, or public transportation, as every visitor’s choice affects the world’s carbon footprint.

At the beginning of 2023, about 46 percent of Logomo customers arrived at events by their car. Logomo aims to reduce this number to 25 percent by the year 2028.

From the center of Turku, you can conveniently reach Logomo with Turku’s local bus, also known as Föli. You can get direct transportation to Logomo from Köydenpunojankatu using local bus lines 20 and 61. For those arriving by bicycle, there is a free bike park on both sides of the railway area.

For public events, the entrance ticket also serves as a travel ticket on Föli buses and water buses before and after the event. With an event ticket that includes a Föli ticket, you can travel on Föli for 3 hours before and 2 hours after the performance. The ticket allows for a total of four trips, meaning you can use one transfer in each direction if needed.

The journey by train or bus from Helsinki and Tampere takes less than two hours. From December 2024, trains will arrive directly in front of Logomo, and Logomo will also serve as a temporary station.

Social responsibility

Parity

Logomo is committed to the principle of equality in all its activities. Everyone is welcome to events and restaurants at Logomo just as they are, and any form of discrimination is not tolerated. We require our entire staff, partners, and subcontractors to commit to the same values.

We continuously work on our ways to develop honestly and responsibly and assess the implementation of equality in a planned manner. Our employees are committed to a common ethical guideline. We welcome development ideas via email at info@logomo.fi.

Diversity

Diversity is strongly present at Logomo, both in public and corporate events, as well as in food. People come to Logomo for work, lunch, movies, weddings, concerts, and art exhibitions.

Logomo’s value proposition includes the idea of combining different cultures and expertise. We encourage experimentation, making mistakes, breaking conventions, and combining familiar things in new ways. You can learn more about Logomo’s value proposition here.

Logomo is part of the family-owned Sunborn Group, which has been a major employer in the Southwest Finland region for 50 years. Sunborn is an equal-opportunity employer that values diversity and ensures fair treatment of all job applicants.

Societal responsibility

Responsible operation

At Logomo work is done professionally, ethically, and responsibly as well as for the benefit of the environment and society in a sustainable way.

Additionally, we cooperate and communicate openly with organizations, authorities, and other authoritative figures. For many years, we have given our premises to Operation Ruokakassi’s Christmas celebration and charitable events.

Accessibility

Accessibility has been an important part of Logomo’s design. Except for the B-auditorium in the Logomo hall, all spaces are wheelchair accessible. All floors are also accessible by elevator, and the number of door thresholds has been kept to a minimum.

Hearing accessibility is handled with so-called personal neck loops. From the cloakroom, you can borrow a wireless receiver and a discreet induction loop to wear around your neck, which works with your hearing aid.

Assistants generally gain free entry to Logomo events. However, this should always be checked when purchasing tickets, as practices may vary between different event organizers. Logomo and Lippupiste hope that event organizers will follow the common practice of allowing the assistant to enter for free.

Logomo is also a Vessapassi (Toilet pass) location. Those with a Vessapassi can access facilities such as the accessible WC, staff WC, or customer WC, even if they are not a customer at Logomo.

We constantly strive to improve the accessibility and reachability of Logomo, and we welcome suggestions for improvement by email at info@logomo.fi. Read more about accessibility here.

Security

The goal is to make Logomo as safe a space as possible for everyone and to promote the implementation of equality.

Physical and psychological safety is everyone’s right, and at Logomo, one must be able to feel safe without fear of any discrimination or harassment, whether sexual or verbal, or any other inappropriate treatment and behavior.

Together with event visitors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, we strive to create an event that everyone can safely participate in and where everyone feels comfortable. Logomo is responsible for the security and order of the property, in cooperation with Securitas Oy.

Event visitors undergo security checks at Logomo’s main entrances, where personal belongings and, if necessary, clothing are inspected to detect prohibited and dangerous items and substances. The inspection is done with sensitivity and only as necessary regarding a person’s clothing and belongings.

In the event area, routes are open and spaces are spacious. We ensure that bottlenecks do not form. We constantly monitor the situation with the help of law enforcement and make changes to practices if necessary. We are prepared for various possible dangerous situations and will inform the audience of instructions if needed. If you notice any safety deficiencies in Logomo, please report them to the nearest law enforcement or at info@logomo.fi.

Principles of a Safer Space

Logomo adheres to the principles of a safer space in its events. In our events, everyone has the right to feel safe without fear of any discrimination, harassment, sexual, physical, or verbal distress.
If you encounter distressing or otherwise inappropriate or disturbing behavior at Logomo, please inform an orderly or other staff member immediately. You can also contact the staff after the event by email at info@logomo.fi.

The principles and practices of a safer space aim to create an environment where everyone strives to build an equal, respectful, and open atmosphere and dialogue.
We actively encourage all participants to create an atmosphere where each other’s safety and well-being are priorities.
Respect each other’s personal space. You cannot know another’s boundaries without asking about them. Listen and change your behavior if someone tells you that your behavior makes them feel uncomfortable.
Respect everyone. Do not make assumptions about anyone’s sexuality, gender, nationality, ethnicity, religion, values, socioeconomic background, ability, or health. Be aware of your privileges.
No body discrimination. Do not comment on someone’s body. Also, leave out comments about other people’s food portions and eating habits.
Respect other people’s opinions, experiences, and differing viewpoints. Do not ridicule, mock, belittle, push aside, or embarrass anyone with your speech, behavior, or actions.
Be responsible for your own actions and behavior. Be aware that your actions have an impact on others, despite your good intentions.
Be part of creating a safer space for everyone. Intervene in any discrimination you see.

Health Safety

We pay special attention to the health and safety of our customers and staff. We are committed to following the current guidance of the authorities and the THL (National Institute for Health and Welfare). Staff and restaurants are instructed to follow common safety and hygiene guidelines. Please participate in Logomo events only if you are healthy!

If you have any questions related to the safety of the event house or other problem situations, such as experiencing or witnessing distressing or inappropriate behaviors, you can turn to law enforcement or staff for help. Both law enforcement and staff are available to help with any security-related questions and problem situations.

An economically sustainable event venue

Logomo is committed to long-term and systematic work to operate in an economically sustainable manner.
